Memories Unforgotten: A 'Mama! I Don’t Want to Leave!' Book Journey

In 2024, the Taiwan Alzheimer’s Disease Association hosted the event “Memories Unforgotten: A ‘Mama! I Don’t Want to Leave!’ Book Sharing and Signing Event,” featuring Valerie Yen, founder of To the Moon Art Charity, during Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. Valerie shared insights from her book, which addresses the emotional impacts of Alzheimer’s Disease. She also read excerpts, followed by a discussion where attendees shared their experiences, creating a supportive community space. Volunteers from To the Moon Art Charity were present to assist and facilitate the event, enhancing the engagement and support provided to participants. This gathering highlighted the therapeutic power of storytelling and the resilience of the human spirit, significantly raising awareness about Alzheimer’s.
TADA’s commitment to enhancing the understanding of Alzheimer’s and providing support to those affected was evident throughout the event. They have been a cornerstone in the community since their establishment in 2002 and continue to advocate for comprehensive care and dementia prevention. Their work unites various groups across Taiwan, pushing forward policies and support that cater to the needs of dementia patients and their families.
This memorable day of reflection and community engagement underscored the crucial role of shared stories in navigating the complexities of Alzheimer’s, uplifting and connecting those impacted by the disease.
